Worst comcast experience ever

Ok so I sent this message to a comcast customer service agent because I had easily one of my worst experiences with them ever. I am putting it here in hopes that someone will see it and wont have to go through the same problem.

"So I just wanted to let you know that the internet is on now and I am satisfied with the speed, but I have to tell you that this whole experience has been a nightmare. When I tried to connect for the first time last night I was not able to activate my modem and I cannot explain the horror and frustration that whipped through my head. If it had only been one thing it would not have been a problem but it was everything added up every step being slowed down by problem after problem.

It started on the 16th or 17th when I tried to sign up for internet that it all began. I started by doing everything online but when I realized that my only option online was to have a technician come out I decided to stop that and call in. To be honest I expected a 15 minute call maybe a bit more, THE CALL LASTED 30MINS, I am not exaggerating it literally took 30mins. Every time the person asked me a question he would go umm... ummm... let me put you on hold. I understand it was probably his first day and thats fine and truth be told, this didn't bother me that much at the time, but as this whole thing has happened the way it has I can only add this in as part of the problem. So he explained that I could skip the technician if I go to the store and picked up the modem and I asked him specifically if I could go to any Comcast thing to pick it up. I was heading to Olympia that night anyways and stopped by the Kiosk in the mall and they said that they couldn't give me the modem. So I get it, its not one of the stores, but why wouldn't I be able to pick it up there. Its still Comcast and they have modems there, but fine no big deal I would just do it on my lunch the next day. Of course there was a long line, but truthfully it went by pretty quickly. The problem came when i talked to the cashier or whatever they said that the guy on the phone that signed me up had signed me up for the economy package instead of the promotional 15down 3up package that I had asked for, and that he had confirmed at first. So this took an extra 5 minutes, but no big deal. I do remember that before I left, I asked him if everything had been setup on Comcast's end so that i could literally plug in and go. He of course assured me that it was ok.

I knew I would be gone all weekend and wouldnt get a chance to set it up until Sunday night. Sunday night rolls around, I am already a little frustrated because the move took longer then it should have and its actually a little late, but I am excited to hook everything up and play some video games or instant stream something on netflix. I plug it in, and realize quickly something is wrong because the modem isn't going all the way through the cycle. I spend the next 2 hours doing everything I can on my end, trying to get the internet to work. I powercycle 3-4 times, the modem and the pc that is plugged into it. I completely unplug everything and start over, I spend 45+ minutes scouring the internet for any answers possible looking up any solution on the modem side or the computer side that I could fix. I am posting on forums anything. Finally i need to get to bed so I decide to just leave it plugged in and hope it is fixed in the morning. Morning rolls around and still the same problem. its stopping at the DS led I do one more power cycle then unplug it. At this point I am almost positive this is something on your end but I am willing to except I may have messed up somewhere. So when I get to work that day (Monday Nov. 22nd) I figure I will try to contact someone and have them verify that everything was working on your end. Let me stop my train of thought and say that the live chat is convenient but those pre-manufactured phrases added to the frustration every time. When I ask a simple question and I get texted 3 manufactured statements that do not involve my question it drives me nuts and seems really really fake. But I talked to the person and they did all they could do on their end, without more information from me (modem info, mac address, etc), and I just wanted to make sure that everything was ok on your end.

When I get home from work a little early because of the snow I am ready to tackle this again and I am excited that everything should be fixed. Low and behold it still didnt work. So I jumped on the live chat again on a neighbors open network so I could try to fix this problem. I end up talking to a person that asks for all my modem info so that they can "Provision" it. They provision it and try to reboot it but obviously they cant do that, but the technician assures me that everything will be ok. I power cycle it doesnt work. He tells me to wait an hour and it will be fine. I ask him to verify that it will be ok and he assures me it will work. I tell him that I have had this problem all day and I am getting frustrated he says wait an hour and it will work "I guarantee it". So I log off I wait an hour and try it, yet it doesnt work. So I try again to talk to the live chat person and they ask all the same questions. I explain they are the 3rd person I had talked to about this and what the last technician had told me and what information he had asked for. After about 10 minutes he directs me to call in because its a self install. I call in and I talk to the lady. She seems nice, she seems to be well informed. She asks for all the same information to verify. She tells me she is going to try to provision it and reboot, but she cant communicate with the modem. We try a power-cycle, and it doesn't work. This is when she tells me that I will have to have a technician come out and that i might be something on comcasts end. Truth is this is when I start to get mad. I ask why I have to wait a couple days to get the internet that I am currently paying for and pay for a technician when it is clearly something on your end. Of course shortly after this I send out the email to you, and I have to wait a couple more days to have a technician come out and fix the problem that is now clearly not my fault which is understandable to a certain extent because its a holiday weekend.

So Saturday roles around, I am of waiting for him to show up, and I have a couple of errands to run and its my families Thanksgiving and it is getting close to noon. I finally have to run out real quick leaving my girlfriend to deal with everything. I get home and he is there about 15 minutes after noon, but that's not a huge deal, just another miss step in this experience. After he sets everything up and it looks like it is going to work he asks if I can test it out real quick, but unfortunately an unforeseen event rendered my laptop useless and we had to get on the road. So it couldn't be tested but it looked like it would work being that all the lights were lighting up now. So when I get home late that night you can imagine how excited i am to finally jump on my own internet, play my video games, watch my online movies, etc. I get home and of course it doesnt work. It seems like it would work but for whatever reason it wont activate the modem. I power cycle a couple times, I plug and unplug a couple of things and finally I jump on with one technician. The first thing they ask me is how I am doing? I explain that i am extremely frustrated and I need to get this working, and her instant replay is "I am glad you are doing fine". So at this point I am panicking that another day off is going to go by without me being able to do anything online and it is taking literally all of my will power to not just shatter the modem. I know it sounds insane to be so frustrated by the lack of internet for a week, but you must understand, I do everything online, I play video games, I pay bills online, I watch videos online, I shop online, and this is the only place I go to get information, banking, news etc. I finally talk to a technician who reboots my modem and fixes the internet. I can tell you that I felt a huge sigh of relief when it happened, and its a very solid connection. I am extremely happy with the internet itself, but everything that led up to it was just a nightmare.

I will tell you the truth, the worst part about this experience is how confident everyone was that their fix was going to solve the problem, I was assured multiple times that everyone was fixing my internet, with no success. I knew from the beginning that it was something on your end and yet no one could figure out the problem. The technician that came over took like 5mins at tops to fix the problem and explained that the problem was that after a person cancels their cable/internet/phone it stays on for 30 days and after 30 days without a call it all gets cut off. This should have been fixed the day that I signed up for the internet!! The day I signed up and the day that I asked the store person if everything was fine on your end. Someone should have looked at a map and said, "Oh wait his internet is cut off, and the filter is not right, etc" yet it took a week to figure out the problem and to get someone in here to fix it. It was a five minute job that someone should have been able to come over at anytime do the thing real quick which would allow me to sign onto the internet. This should have not needed to be scheduled this should have not cost anyone anything and this should have been fixed day 1.

I have been a comcast customer on and off for 10+ years, while living in 2 states at about 6 apartments, under either my name or a mix of roommates names. I have always been happy with my service. I have never had any real problems that were not fixed almost instantly. I have done self installs multiple times and I have had technicians come out free of charge to do the install. And every time I have been satisfied. Not once have I really ever considered going with a different service or different company because it just seemed easier to go with a company that I trusted. But I have to be honest, I will stick with Comcast for the next 6 months maybe longer, maybe even until i end up moving out of this apartment but after that, I dont know if I can truly consider going with you guys again. This experience has been such a negative one that I dont know if I can ever go through it again, or risk going through it again. I know this is a long message and i do apologize for that, but I felt it needed to be said. I know everyone always says this but I dont usually write these kinds of messages I just cannot go without explaining the pure frustration and anger I felt towards this whole experience. I hope this message goes to the right people and they can see how annoying this was and you guys can fix whatever it is that you need to fix to make sure nothing like this never happens again. It was a nightmare and possibly the worst customer service experience of my life. Please take time to read this and make sure no other customer has to jump through so many loops to get something simple like the internet.

Said customer"

Thanks everyone.

Criminal

So recently I bought 2 of the 4 book criminal series. A series that I started a couple months back and was excited to get one step closer to finishing. The series is by Author Ed Brubaker. A man who is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. And as much as I love his mainstream work he has done with Batman and Daredevil I love more his side vertigo projects including sleeper and incognito.

Criminal

This is an ongoing series that appears to have at least 2 more issues or books coming out. The first two Coward and Lawless are two of my favorite books and will go down in history as two of my favorite books ever. The other are good but not great. I started reading the series a little while ago when I found them at the library. They had the first too on shelf and I ran through those pretty quickly. Then I started to search amazon and realized that this was an ongoing series so I searched at the library for the next two and found out that they had like 3 copies of bad night and non of the dead and the dying so I knew what that meant... it meant I was going to have to buy the other two. When I found them at borders it was not a question of how much as much of how many should i buy. long story short bought the last two and checked out the first two.

As I reread the Coward and Lawless I started to see something different about these books. A small thread that ran through the first two books, small connections and references that had not noticed the first time through. So I was equally excited about reading the dead and the dying. It did not disappoint. Again you can see the small thread leading through all the stories. And so it did through Bad night. The cool thing about this series and Mr. Brubaker as a whole is that he has a very distinctive Noir style that is not forced down your throat but massaged into the story as it should be. Its not the basic Film Noir detective story but rather has the grittiness and feel of a Noir. This was always very cool too me and kept me interested in reading more. The stories are always fun and very engaging and the writing and drawing styles alike are great. I would suggest this series to anyone interested in comics but it is definitely aimed at adults, no kids allowed.

I am more excited to talk to Ed brubaker at the emerald city comicon next week. I hope he is willing to sign my book and take a picture. Plus I hope he is as chill as I can imagine.
Saw this one yesterday in 3d. From what I have been hearing not too many people have been enjoying this flick for this that or the other reason. But I will honestly say that I really enjoyed this. I wouldn't say that it was one of my favorite films, hell I wouldn't even say that it was one of my favorite Tim Burton flicks but it was damn enjoyable. The story was different but interesting from start to finish. The acting as usually was pretty damn cool. The visuals were fun as hell. And as always it had that nice little dark side that Tim Burton is known for. I thoroughly enjoyed the retailing of this classic story, the best thing is that it was not the same as any of the other stories before so it gave it gave them a bit of freedom with the story.

The Good:

- Graphics were amazing
- The cheshire cat
- Johnny Depp: Mr. Depp played an awesome Madd Hatter
- All the other actors all played their parts very well and made for an enjoyable movie
- Classic Tim Burton
The Bad:
- The 3d was very unnecessary and I can only imagine would have been just as good in 2d. I would have loved to see this movie actually made in 3d vs. being rendered in 3d afterwords.
- Because it was made by Disney it showed some similarities to Narnia
- The white queen was a bit corny but I feel this was done on purpose and she was still very good.

Overall I would suggest this for anyone who enjoys Tim Burton's movies and anyone who enjoys Alice in Wonderland. The movie was just good. I will say that I would like to see Tim Burton stretch his wings a bit. This is kind of a side track but the man has a great talent and has many great skill but has allowed himself to become a one trick pony. All of his movies are dark, most of his movies have Johnny Depp and Whats her name in it... But damnit I still enjoy his stuff.

Damn this was a busy week and I have actually watched a couple flicks for the first time in a while... I have been listening to the smodcast for a bit recently and started to get a little excited for this movie and hell look at the cast and the director... I had heard it was a buddy cop comedy but the reviews I read were pretty lousy so I didnt know what to think when going into it... But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised the movie was not only hilarious but was actually pretty cool... From the moment it started to the final seconds of the film I was laughing the whole time and enjoying myself... there were some corny parts and some jokes that were a little forced but the movie was hilarious the best part about the movie is that it reminded me of the classic buddy cop style movies i.e. lethal weapon, die hard, Beverly Hills cop, etc. So much so I am currently watching Lethal weapon 1 to get more of that. I would suggest this movie for anyone who enjoyed cop movies from the past and anyone who enjoys funny action flicks. The jokes were good the combo of Bruce and Tracy was hilarious and even all the side characters were great. If I was going to rate this I would give it a 8/10 for fun alone...

You Tube!!!

Ok so I am a man who loves Youtube and what they have become and I love the service they provide. Hell I would never imagined that I could watch Leroy Jenkins a million times over on one site. The site is just amazing. But one trait has started to become prevelant and annoying. For whatever reason every time SNL or someone puts out a funny video or a classic music video these stupid kids think they can do it just as good. I dont know why kids have video cameras to start with but why do they think I want to watch them remake one of my favorite SNL digital shorts.
This became more noticeable to me when I was on the Interweb searching for a digital short called letters to my sister. This was one of the earlier digital shorts staring Bill Hader, Andy Sandberg, Kristen Wiig, and guest star Shia LaBeouf. This video is so freakin Hilarious. But for whatever reason if you search for it on Youtube you will find like 200 videos and they are either complete remakes or they have some Douche bag kid editing themselves into it... Either way its annoying and frustrating. I dont know why every kid wants to make a video of themselves and put it online. I dont want to see some stupid kid with a video camera remake my favorite videos who would. Dont get me wrong now if you want to jump online and do something completely original and make it funny or so awkward that its funny go for it...
Like the starwars kid I loved the starwars kid... . A video that is so sad that its hilarious. This kind of stuff I want to see. But some kid remaking something that was already funny there is no art in that, I dont need that stuff in my life. And I cant count the times that I have jumped on youtube to watch this kid do his thing...

David Elsewhere the kid in the orange shirt:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcUF3vGgwNc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiLK7S2fXqQ

and hell while looking for David Elsewhere I found these kids:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HkFK_wTss0

This is impressive. This is what I want to see not some stupid kids trying to make a music video to some song and just looking the fool. I am tired of that shit. I say we stand up against it. I say we fight. We bring the war to the streets and protest. I SAY GIVE ME GOOD YOUTUBE VIDEOS OR GIVE ME DEATH. No more stupid punk ass kids showing the world how sad and uncreative they are. The only sad people that should be on the internet better be fat and trying to do something only skinny kids should be doing. No more stunner shade videos. No more kids trying to be cool. No more douche bags using video cameras their parents bought them to remake things that are funny. I Say Be Creative, Be Insightful, Be inventive. OR GET OFF THE WEB!!!!

Wolfman

I remember the first preview I saw of this film and I was damn excited to watch it. Then came the push back on the release... fear quickly overcame me and i was worried that the studio may have seen something in the movie that was not worth watching or that scared them. Because in the movie theater business everyone knows that February-April is the crap releases of film. Every once in a while you get a gem but as a whole you see movies that dont fit into the summer or Christmas releases. For example check out the movies that have come out since January... Day Breakers, Leap Year, Youth in Revolt, The Book of Eli, Legion, Tooth Fairy, Edge of Darkness, Percy Jackson, Cop Out, The Crazies, etc. These movies are not necessarily bad but are not all star movies. So the movie came out and i hesitated to watch it, my worst fears were already being confirmed though. As employees came and went to the movie and I did not hear one good thing come from it I was desperately worried.

So Saturday rolls around and i happen to have the day off so we decide to watch this movie. The film started out pretty slow and the distractions of people talking behind me was not the most frustrating part of the first half of the movie. Besides being slow the story was convoluted and pretty strange. But i was still holding out a little hope, then all of a sudden there was it was my gleam of hope, when you see the man transform into a werewolf for the first time, it looked very smooth and very clean, and sadly was literally the best part of the movie. As the man finishes his transformation the wolf that rises does not strike fear into my heart but laughter into my belly, because the wolf that rises is very similar to a wolf of many years past... I remember saying to myself, "wait is that a fucking teen wolf??" And sadly even though it looked identical to a werewolf from a low budget comedy of the 80's it was not in a sports jersy shooting hoops but rather was howling at the moon doing its best to be menacing. Even now I am struck with the realization that this is what the studio saw, this is the reason it got pushed back to the lower class season of movies. After this sad pathetic attempt at making a werewolf I was completely drawn out of the movie and found my self nodding off and laughing more then engaging in the film. When the end finally came I left that theater as quick as possible ready for cleansing my eyes and mind of that painful eye rape.

Overall I was really really excited for this movie after the first trailer, and when the posters came my excitement continued. I noticed my feelings turning a bit when the standee came out and it was cheap and pretty uninteresting, but I still held out hope. And even though my fellow employees warned me of what was to come I still held out some hope. But yet it was not worth the time. The film was bad. The only good thing that came from it was the transformation. The story was terrible and honestly a bit predictable. The makeup was just horrific and this coming from the day and age where you see amazing things happening on screen. I would suggest no one to watch this movie, maybe renter just out of morbid curiosity but nothing good came of it.

Crazy Heart

I have been looking forward to this flick ever since I heard about it. I remember putting up the poster so I can start to promote it, but quickly I realized it probably wouldn't make its way to the big screen at most theaters. I was surprised and excited to see the bookings for it and ready to watch. The film was pretty damn good. The best performance was done by Jeff Bridges, in fact I am quite happy and shocked by his performance. His nomination was well deserved and I hope he actually wins something. The story was amazing and hell the music was actually really good. I am not much of a country nut but I do love that old school rock-a-billie country that has a strong influence of jazz in it. The other performances were not too bad either. I did not even realize Colin Ferrel was involved in this film till he showed up and he did a great job. His only flaw was that he struggled with his accent at times, but I give him a thumbs up because he is doing a thick Texan accent when he is actually Irish, much respect. I always struggle with Maggie Gyllenhaal because she is a good enough actress but she is very fucking weird looking and kind of strange, and sometimes I really struggle with her acting. I dont know why I struggle with her but as a whole her role was nothing special to me. I could have done without it or with a better actress. But either way I would highly suggest this movie for people who like indie biopic films. The movie was very good and very well acted. I enjoyed the characters, the music, and the story. If this movie shows up around you should go check it out. My next review will be Hurt Locker. Keep an eye out for it.

District 13 Ultimatum

This was a movie that I was extremely excited for... in fact I actually downloaded it twice so I could get the subtitled version instead of the lame dubbed version. I remember watching the first one a few years back when I lived in Portland at the Fox Tower. Even then I was tripping balls about the movie. So when I discovered that their was a second one coming out in a couple of weeks I was very ready to go watch it. But after finding that it was not releasing in any theaters around here and that it was not releasing on dvd until May or March or something like that my arm was forced and I had to download it...
So now after a little set up on how I obtained the movie how about a little set up on the previous and current movie... The movie stars David Belle an achieved Free runner with many internet videos on youtube and such. He is very talented at what he does and is fun to watch. It also stars Cyril Raffaelli not a household name to most but has stared in movies such as Kiss of the dragon(with jet li) and Live free die hard. In which he was a hacker with the bad guys and jumped around and kicked a lot. The premise of the movies is that there is a section called District 13 (distict b-13 in the first one). This section or sector of the city has been cut off from the rest of Paris with a giant wall and is ran by drug lords and in both movies more or less the government is trying to destroy the city so they can rebuild it.
Quick review of the previous film. It was damn amazing full of awesome action and full of amazing stunts. The story was ok at best but the movie, which was directing by people involved in the making of Ong Bak, was fun as hell and action packed.
This movie though fell a little short. I was super excited and after the first scene, though disturbing I was still excited. But after this it started to go a little plain. The movie still had some awesome action but it was definitely fewer and much further between. Even though there was still some action it was a far stretch to the first. In the first it was fluid and creative and in this one it felt forced and the camera angles killed some of the parkor stunts. Everything about the action was less interesting. The story was just as lame if not more lame and definitely more corny and unbelievable. There was more comical aspects which actually made it lame. There were more people involved which may be the reason it killed some of the action.
But to be fair maybe I shouldn't compare it to the previous one and try to look at it as an individual entity. From an action movie perspective it was entertaining enough. I enjoyed the moments of action that were in the flick. The story was good enough and not to far from other action movies in that I mean the story doesn't draw away from the action. On an action scale I would give it a 6/10.
Overall the movie was fun and I am glad I watched it. I am also glad I did not buy it because I am pretty sure I will never watch it again. There were a couple scenes that I would kill to watch again and again, primarily the opening scene. But the movie was less fun and not nearly as good as the first one. I would recommend the first one to anyone who hasn't seen it and I would recommend the second one for a one time watch(only after the first one). This film still does fall in a short line of films that are very fun to watch and dont come to this side of the world very often. Usually has awesome action and stunts that are out of this world and usually the lamest stories ever. Movies that dont use wires and dont use CG just old fashioned action and stunts that could seriously injure all involved. If you like this film I would suggest Ong Bak, The protector, Chocolate and there are probably more but this is all I know.

Dexter

So I am going to do everything I can to not do any spoilers in this. But I have to say... WTF?!?!? What the hell is the next season going to be like? I cant imagine anything. They are going to write about that is not going to be weird. I have some ideas but Its just pretty crazy. I find it hard to believe that anyone would have called that ending. Damn it was crazy as hell. My girlfriend is just as amazed as I am... It was hands down crazy. But a pretty good cliffhanger. I will say to anyone who has not watched all the 4 seasons needs to watch it now... Go download it or whatever as soon as you can. It needs to be watched by all. It was pretty Legend... wait for it... ary!!!

Pirate Radio (the boat that rocks)

I went to watch this movie at the Olympia Film Society theater. And I wasn't really sure what to think about it. I had seen that it had come and gone but I didn't really anything about it after that. I played at the Regal (evil) theater up the road but time just wasn't on my side. And I wasn't to sure about the theater we chose to watch this. But Let me say that all worries were extinguished when I saw this film. The theater was cool, good sound and great picture and just fun. And same goes to the movie. Funny as hell great music awesome story and great great acting on all points. This film was pretty freakin awesome to say the least. I enjoyed literally all aspects of it. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was damn amazing. He played a great character that was very well rounded and fit into his skill set perfectly. Nick Frost was a joy to watch as usual. I enjoy how he plays characters so carefree and fun. But all the characters fit together well and were just hands down fun. And I couldn't say enough about the music. Its nothing but pure classic awesome rock. Another final note I will say that the movie visited a gambit of emotions. I would suggest this to anyone who likes movies. I would suggest this to anyone who likes Music. I would suggest this for people who like great characters. And I would suggest this for anyone who... Hell anyone at all. This movie is for all people and I could imagine anyone getting sucked in quickly and enjoying this film. It was great. I am just sad I waited so long to watch this. I cant wait to check out a couple of the other movies I missed last year.

Rope: Review

So this is not a new film by any means and it took me a little while to watch this even though I had it at my house from netflix for about a month. I ended up watching this film and I have to say that I was really really impressed by it. The acting was great the story was amazing and twisted. I have always enjoyed Alfred Hitchcock's films, but this one was damn amazing. Jimmy Stewart played the antagonist great and it was interesting seeing how their minds worked everything out. I have to say this one probably tops my list of Hitchcock films. So overall anyone who likes thinking classic films would enjoy this plus anyone who enjoys mysteries would enjoy this.

Kick-Ass: Comic Review

I just got done reading the comic Kickass (issue 1-7: 8 doesn't come out till Feb.) and it was pretty amazing. I would suggest anyone who enjoys comic books. Or enjoyed the graphic novel Wanted (yet hated the movie). The comic book was awesome the action was great and the fact is that its an adult themed comic, its bloody as hell and pretty crazy actually. I cant wait to see what happens in the next couple issues, hopefully something amazing!!! I read this because the movie is coming out sometime this year and it looks pretty cool. The comic story is very interesting and its cool because its about a regular kid trying to be a super hero without any powers. I enjoy the potential reality that comes from a comic like this which is why i enjoy batman. The most amazing thing is watching the kid get his ass kicked in so many of the issues. So all in all... its pretty awesome.

Sherlock Holmes: Review

So as a man who enjoys pretty much anything Guy Ritchie has done... I will say that I may be a little biased in judging this film. But I will say that this movie was pretty amazing. The acting was great and the story was pretty cool and the directing was good. I think Watson was played very well by jude law and his character fit in very well. I think that Holmes was preformed perfectly by Robert Downy Jr. I dont know how historically accurate the film was and I dont know how perfectly portrayed Holmes was but it was enjoyable as hell. It was definitely classic Ritchie in the fact that very multiple story driven but it doesn't completely make sense until the end of the movie. This is something he does in all films. A couple stories that dont seem to make sense until the end. The action was great. The deductive reasoning was pretty awesome. I loved how he froze time and looked at each angle and planned everything out before hand. I will say that I also enjoyed the directorial decision to not do this too often. Also the best part is that it set it up well for a second movie with completing the current story. It was good and I would suggest it for anyone who doesn't have an issue non-historical films and enjoys Guy Ritchie.

Avatar 3d: Review

So before I go to far into this review let me say. If you only watch one 3d movie ever in your life you need to watch this one. So far with this new digital 3d technology all the live action 3d movies have been pretty terrible. But this one blew my mind. This one was graphically one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. Every thing about this movie was beautiful, in fact I would suggest that anyone that is close enough to an imax and has the extra cash to make the trip should go to that, but if you cant make it to the imax at least go for the 3d. The 3d was amazing and not wasted, no corny shots, no waste just beauty. It was hands down epic. Now onto the story: The story was pretty good, a little hippie-ish but non the less a pretty bad ass film concept. I will say that even though I didn't find too many times when I was feeling bored I did think it was still a bit long. I would probably watch it again but not too often. Probably the best part of it was the last 30 minutes or so when it left story mode and entered epic movie mode. I will say that the only problem with the movie was all the preachy message that came from it... and anyone who is... well republican will probably have an issue with this flick. It hates on the military pretty hardcore, it hates on big business, it hates on people who dont love nature. But minus the message add in the amazing graphics and mix in some epic action and you have a pretty amazing movie.

Up in the Air: Review

Last Tuesday I watched this film. I have to say that I truly enjoyed it. The film was excellent, the acting was very good and all characters played their role great. This is a film that reminds of GardenState which was a great film also. For a person who enjoys a beginning middle and end, you may not enjoy this flick. For a person who enjoys films that are full of action or whatever this may not be your film. This is rather a film that is about a persons experience and the changing life he may go through. I laughed I teared up and I almost swore a bit. The movie was amazing. Out of the 3 films that I watched that day this may have been my favorite. Its an amazing roller coaster of emotion and a great story. It had all things that I really enjoy. I will be the first to admit that it may be a bit indie for most, but I love that kind of movie.

top 5 graphic novels

Ok guys so this list is going to be short and sweet. I will put an asterix on this because I know even though I have read many many comics in the last couple months I know my list is still going to be missing a good chunk of comics. So here we go.

1. Kingdom Come: What can be said about Mark Waid and Alex Ross. First of all Alex Ross is one of the most talented artist in the comic book world. Most of the time you can only see Alex doing the cover of a book but in this one he did the entire book. Then lets not forget that the comic itself is just amazing. Mark Waid told an amazing story from start to finish. The characters the story development. Just everything. One of the coolest moments is when The Flash pulls the preacher out of the realm that he was in. It was amazingly awesome. Good book for anyone who has not read this one.

2. Watchmen: Anyone who doesn't have this on their top 5 has never read it. The book is damn amazing, so good that it won a Hugo award. To call this a graphic novel is almost an insult, its more of an Novel with illustrations. The story is so in depth and so amazing. From cover to cover you get fed an amazing amount of images and story and political concepts. It was hands down amazing. Also lets not forget that there is an interesting story within story going on that connects beautifully with the main story. And the only reason I put this at number two was because of readability. I love Watchmen but I can read and reread kingdom come constantly.

3. The Dark Knight Returns: The book is damn amazing. I dont know if there is anything better from Frank Miller. The story is solid the late different look at batman and into batman is par none. You see an older batman that struggles from age and needs to find himself again and fixing what has happened to Gotham. Its solid, the story is great, and I love the style of animation. Its amazing.

4. Maus: This story is hard to put on a top 5 list because its a tough read. The story is amazing but its a tough subject. The author and artist relived his parents experience of painful Germany and Nazis through a means that would help him relate or rather understand it. So instead of using people he used mice. And told the stories of his parents. It was very heart filled and very interesting. The stories were amazing the art was great and the narrative outside of the story was really interesting too. It belongs on all lists but this is another one of the graphic novels that should be considered a novel over a graphic novel.

5. Batman Long Halloween: Long Halloween is done by one of my favorite combos in the comic book world, Tim Sale and Jeph Loeb. They have done great things for comics. And this story was one of the greatest I have ever read. It involved many characters. It takes a cool detective look at batman which is the greatest aspect of Batman. And its just hands down a solid solid story. It started great and ended great. I enjoyed it greatly.

So that is my top 5 graphic novels of all time.

Here goes to honorable mention.
1. Wanted by Mark Millar: This book was actually really good but the movie blew chunks. The book is solid the art is fun and the story is pimp. The main character is a perfect anti-hero. Its cool as hell.
2. Planet hulk series by Greg Pak: This story is really cool and really one of the first hulk books I enjoyed. To see hulk as a bad guy then a hero and then a planet saver. It is crazy to see him in a place that he is actually more comfortable on this foreign planet and it ends really cool.
3. The Joker by Brian Azzarello: The book is cool and the story is awesome plus the art is good.
4. Arkham Asylum by Grant Morrison: Arkham Aslyum was a great dark look into the aslyum that is so important to many stories of Gotham city. The story is cool and the art is crazy. Its dark as hell and crazy as hell. Plus Grant Morrison is one of my favorite authors.
5. Spiderman: Evolve or Die by Peter David: This story was crazy. I dont know how much it follows continuity but the story was pretty cool. The concept was pretty crazy and to see some of it happen was actually really cool.
6. Green Arrow: Year One by Andy Diggle: I bought this because I actually love Green arrow and this story was really really cool. From start to finish I enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it at first but after a getting into it I read it in about 35mins. It was solid and cool as hell.
7. Identity Crisis by Brad Meltzer: I really really liked this story. It took a look at what happens to super heroes when they take off the mask. The danger that can come on their off time. I will say it was amazing until just about the end when it got kind of lame... But none the less still pretty amazing.
8. Sleeper Series by Ed Brubaker: Ed Brubaker has become one of my favorite authors. He does some really really cool stories. And these stories are pimp as hell. Its a graphic book series of 4 and they are all awesome.

After looking at my honorable mention list I probably could have done a top 10. But I like top 5 lists. And I was being distracted by How I met your mother.

Movies 2009

Ok So I am going to be like everyone else and post my top ten of 2009 but the problem is that I have missed a couple movies along the way and I have missed a couple movies near the end of the year. So with that being said I will do my top 5 and a couple honorable mention and a couple Wish list.

Top 5 of the year:
5. Watchmen I loved this movie I thought it was very well done and for a comic book movie followed the book very well and the parts that it did change, felt very justifiable. I think this director is amazing and I thought the actors were great. But most of all after watching comic book movies such as wanted, wolverine, spiderman, surrogates, white out, etc. I can say that accuracy is a struggle with this genera of film. The sad thing is that most people didn't see this film and the people who did a lot didn't understand it, but the film was great from a comic fans stand point.

4. Star Trek this film was a great re-inventing of a franchise that was close to gone. I loved what they did with characters and I loved what they with continuity and how they gave a middle finger to fan boys who would have complained about issues with two Spocks and what not. The quotes were great the action was great and the story was pretty awesome. I loved this film from start to finish. This was a great start of the summer.

3. 500 days of Summer I know most people will hate on this pick but I loved this film. I thought the acting was great on both ends with Joseph Gordon Levit and Zoey Desch... how ever you spell her name. They were both very good in this film. The jumping around was a bit confusing at first but ended telling a very interesting story with very good twists and great humor. Plus the story was just great.

2. District 9 So I wasn't sure about this movie at first, but after hearing about the director and the amount of money spent and seeing Alive in Joburg, I started to get excited. I loved this film the movie cost nothing the FX's were great and the story was amazing. This is what sci fi movies need to be like. This movie cost: 30 million and it was 100x better the Gi joe which cost 175 million and grossed close to the same amount. Everything about this film was enjoyable and good.

1. The hangover This is going to sound crazy but for pure enjoyment alone I loved this film. I saw this 3 times in the theaters and would have watched it 1000 more times. Because this film is full of great quotes and is hands down one of the best comedies I have ever seen. The characters are great the story is funny and everything fits together so well. I loved this film more then anything this summer and year and possibly years in the past. I keep getting more and more out of it. So I am very excited to watch this on blu-ray for the years to come.

Honorable Mention:
1. Up this film was very well done, even though it was extremely depressing I found it very entertaining and good all around. Pixar has only disappointed me a couple times. The movie was great even though it was sad.
2. Zombieland The movie was great for anyone who loves zombies. The film was funny, gory, interesting, and just plain fun. They did some very interesting things in all aspects of this film, the best example is the pop up words that came throughout the movie. It was very clever I enjoyed it.
3. Away we Go for indie films it was very good. I love John Kresen... whatever it was a good film not top 5 worthy but a good flick non the less. Realize that the film is pretty indie but good.
4. Ninja Assassin This movie was fun as hell the graphics were a little corny and the story was terrible but fun as hell.
5. Drag me to Hell again another fun as hell film. Not usually a top 10 film but it was fun and very well done. Great director great acting and really really funny. If you havent watched it and like Evil dead you would enjoy it.
6. Ponyo great film if you like the director. Was not as good as howls moving castle or Princess Monokoe but still a great movie.

Missed but want to see to complete list (in no particular order)
1. Avatar
2. Sherlock Holmes
3. Crazy Heart
4. Invictus
5. Up in the Air
6. The Princess Frog
7. The Road
8. Fantastic Mr. Fox
9. Boondock Saints II
10. Where the Wild things are
11. Hurt locker
12. The Soloist
13. Sunshine Cleaning
14. A serious Man
15. Pirate radio

The most disappointing fims for me: (in no order)
ok so these films are movies I am not too impressed with but some people may disagree with but who cares this is my blog.
1. Inglorious Bastards ok i put this at 1 on purpose. I was most disappoint by this film. I loved parts of it mostly the acting and the dialogue from a couple characters but really I expected something else from this film. Better direction and maybe a little less story. There was just too much to swallow and at the end I was a little disappointed. But the thing that killed me the most was the lack of Inglorious bastards in this film.
2. Street Fighter I didnt expect greatness but I expected better then the original film with Jean Claude Van Damm. But truly this film was worst then the last and probably close to the worst film of the year.
3. Xmen: Wolverine-Orgins I kind of knew this film was going to blow but I was hoping for something good some reason for me to believe in the franchise and believe a company other then marvel could make a good comic book movie. But from start to finish this film disappointed. It destroyed great characters like dead pool and Gambit. Where was the accent for Gambit and how did the upgraded Deadpool bend his arms with those swords in them... Lol bad film
4. The Brothers Bloom I was really excited for this flick but should have realized that the movie was probably not going to be good being that it took so long to release then went straight to DVD. It just didnt feel right and the story seemed to twist a little too much. I loved the final scene with the brothers but that was it.
5. The proposal This movie was huge at my theater and it was a little too awkward for me to enjoy it. I laughed a couple times but I remember feeling more uncomfortable then anything else. This was suppose to be a huge great movie.
6. The Ugly Truth the same thing as the last comment. Funny parts where I was literally laughing out loud but just too uncomfortable.
7. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen I will say that I enjoyed this film and I even paid a little amount to watch it on minI-max but it was just not what I wanted to see. There were some great things in it and some terrible things in it. For example the Ethnic robots were a little lame and very uncomfortable plus a tad bit racist. The fact that they destroyed the Construct-a-con was lame as hell. And hell the construct-a-con was pretty disappointing...
8. Surrogates/Pandorum I didnt expect great things from these films but I did hope for some decent movies. I was of course wrong... They both sucked hard.
9. The Men Who stare at Goats I thought the movie was going to be a comedy but instead I laughed only once... and it was caused by lsd... so yeah...

So that is my look into 2009 feel free to comment. I enjoy watching movies I wish I had more time to watch movies. But I run out of time on a regular basis. But one day... and I will be able to post more about them. So enjoy my list and I understand if you all hate me for it.
